About "Complexity, Clarified."

I help public sector agencies (State / Local / Federal), schools, and research labs make sense of murky IT topics ... those that required clarity. Some reoccuring themes include the shake-up after Broadcom bought VMware, storage, AI data platforms, and staying resilient against ransomware and disasters.

My day job is at CAS Severn, working alongside the teams who run IT agencies, courts, school systems, and supercomputers. Over the years I've noticed that the technology is rarely the hard part. The hard part is cutting through the noise, the vendor spin, and the fear long enough to make a clear decision. That and the Layer 8 / people stuff ... 😄

That's what this blog is for. These are short, practical takes from the field: what I'm seeing, what's actually working, trends and directions, to get ahead of the next wrench thrown in your direction.

Every so often I may write beyond IT; about meaningful work, internships and increasing opportunities for those around us, progressing in a career, and raising three kids while attempting to 'do it all.'
